KAYO DOT Signs With HYDRA HEAD RECORDS

December 17, 2006

KAYO DOT, the Boston, Massachusetts-based experimental metal ensemble featuring former members of the now-defunct MAUDLIN OF THE WELL, has inked a deal with Hydra Head Records for the release of their next album. The group plans to begin recording the CD in early summer for a tentative late 2007 or early 2008 release.

Formed in 2003 by vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Toby Driver, KAYO DOT released its debut album, "Choirs of the Eye", on John Zorn's Tzadik label that year. A follow-up effort, "Dowsing Anemone with Copper Tongue", came out in January 2006 via Robotic Empire.

In other news, KAYO DOT's Toby and violinist Mia Matsumiya have another band called TARTAR LAMB which will be touring to Seattle and back starting December 26. They will be accompanied by Tim and Andrew from FRIENDLY BEARS and will perform some of Tim's music (HAZEL-RAH) on this tour as well. The tour concludes January 19 in New York City, joined by the James Plotkin/Tim Wyskida duo (ex-KHANATE, KHLYST, BLIND IDIOT GOD).
